YTL’s YES offers free SIM pack to 5G phone users

KUALA LUMPUR (January 10): YTL Communications Sdn Bhd, through its YES telecom service, is offering a free YES FT5G prepaid Discover SIM pack to customers with a 5G-enabled phone.

In a statement released on Monday (January 10), the telecom operator said it would distribute the SIM pack from Monday (January 10) until February 14.

“With this, customers who sign up for the 5G SIM pack will be able to experience the fifth generation of mobile wireless technology, delivering higher data speed, ultra-low latency, more reliable coverage, massive network capacity, and an experience more uniform user to user,” the company said.

YTL Communications Managing Director Wing K Lee noted that there are more than two million 5G-enabled phones in use in Malaysia today.

“To celebrate the arrival of 5G in the country and allow owners of these 5G phones to enjoy the new service, we are proud to present the #FirstToDiscover5G campaign.

“This will ensure that more Malaysians will have access to 5G with our FT5G Prepaid Discover free SIM pack. This is the first in a series of campaigns we are developing to encourage the widespread adoption of 5G in Malaysia,” did he declare.

YTL Communications said YES customers can sign up for the free SIM pack on the YES website or through the MyYes app. The SIM card will be issued to them at no additional cost.

YES 5G was launched in December 2021 in line with Digital Nasional Bhd’s launch of Malaysia’s 5G services, being the first telecom operator in Malaysia to do so.

Current 5G coverage areas include Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and parts of downtown Kuala Lumpur, with plans to rapidly expand to all major cities by the end of 2022.
