Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — vivo joins the list of top five smartphones in the Philippines in the second quarter of 2022, according to the recently released International Data Corporation (IDC) Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker.
Despite the industry’s overall decline in QoQ smartphone shipments, IDC reports that vivo recorded a 335.4% QoQ increase in shipments.
This significant increase in the market can be attributed to vivo’s new entry models: the Y15s and Y15a. vivo’s strengthened market position in the ultra-low-end segment has enabled the brand to reach a wider target audience. Additionally, partnerships with relevant brands and events such as the PUBG Turbo Cup Challenge, a mobile esports championship, have helped vivo enter the highly competitive mobile gaming market.
Recently launched additions to its ever-growing roster, such as the one co-designed with photography masters ZEISS vivo X80 series and the turbo-powered vivo T series of smartphones have also contributed to this feat.
The second half of the year will prove equally exciting for vivo as the brand is expected to launch more devices in its smartphone lineup.
