The Motorola Razr 2022 is the latest foldable phone

0

If ever a flip phone were to take advantage of foldable screen technology, it would be the Motorola Razr. The favorite accessory of the 2000s before the smartphone, the original Motorola Razr was the ultimate fashion statement at a time when cellphones were seen as an optional extra rather than a necessity.

Kurt Bonnici, Motorola’s head of Australia and New Zealand, said the Motorola Razr 2022 sets “a new standard” for modern foldable phones.

“This device builds on the core features of previous generations and features the most advanced camera ever seen in a flip phone, a more powerful battery and two impressive displays with a redesigned hinge allowing the phone to stand upright all alone.”

While Motorola released its first Razr foldable phone in 2020, this new and improved version features a minimalist design, a new Flex View hinge, and many other cool features. Read on to find out what you can expect from the new Motorola Razr.

As you’d expect, the Motorola Razr 2022 features two screens – the main screen and a smaller 2.7-inch display on the back, for quick access when the phone is closed. This smaller screen shows notifications, lets you read and send messages, take photos, and make payments, all without having to open your phone.

Just like Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phones, the Razr’s hinge lets you keep the phone in a partially folded state, which is great for hands-free photos, video calls and more. Once the phone is opened, you’ll enjoy a full 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and cinematic color standards with over a billion shades of color, thanks to HDR10+ certification and 100% DCI-P3 color spectrum. You’ll also get two built-in stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos for a truly immersive viewing experience.

Under the hood, you get a high-end Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, along with 5G compatibility, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. There’s a 3,500mAh battery with 30W fast charging compatibility, and Motorola has included a 30W fast charger in the box. You can also protect your device with a side-mounted fingerprint reader, as well as face unlock.

When it comes to cameras, Motorola has packed its most advanced camera into a flip phone, with a 50MP main camera and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. Up front, you’ll get a 32 MP front camera for all your selfie taking needs. There’s also All-Pixel Instant Focus with better low-light performance, macro mode and you can also record 8K or 4K HDR10+ video.

The Motorola Razr (2022) comes only in a Satin Black colourway and is available to buy now for $1,599 AUD RRP. You can get the Razr at retail stores including JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys, and online only from Officeworks, Big W, Mobileciti, and the Lenovo Online Store.
