Rural Health Group honors Hedgpeth’s legacy

The Rural Health Group remembers the legacy of longtime board member Thomas Hedgpeth, who died last Thursday at the age of 95.

Hedgpeth served on RHG’s board of directors for over a decade and was the first and only distinguished member of the organization’s board of directors.

“Relationships are everything. This lifelong philosophy was clearly apparent. He had a long, compassionate relationship with his community and the Rural Health Group, as evidenced by his dedicated service, ”said RHG CEO Yvonne Long-Gee.

She said the Hollister native will be remembered as a champion of rural health care and its mission to reach underserved people.

He was also forthright when it came to the needs of his community.

In 2014, the Rural Health Group Clinic and Pharmacy in Norlina was named Thomas O. Hedgpeth Health Center in honor of his dedicated service.

“His discreet and respectful participation as a member of the Rural Health Group board of directors has made all who served with him the privilege of working alongside him. He will be missed, ”said Long-Gee.

A visit will take place this evening from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home, located at 607 South Main Street in Louisburg.
