Realme Most Trusted Among Smartphone Brands, According to Consumer Survey Report


The advent of the Internet of Things (IoT) opened up avenues for growth for smartphone brands as they began to exploit new opportunities with a range of connected technology products and devices. In doing so, they compete with traditional consumer tech brands. To understand the performance of smartphone brands in the expanded market in India, market research agency CyberMedia Research (CMR) conducted the “CMR Connected Consumer Survey 2021”.

And the investigation report, which covered 2,010 consumers in the 8 main cities of India, provided some interesting information.

For connected consumers, according to the report, the highest expectations of consumer technology products and devices are ease of use (96%), affordability (89%) and an innovative design aesthetic ( 88%), among others. Laptops (39%), tablets (31%) and smart bracelets (29%) are among the top three smart technology products and devices that consumers currently use.

Realme’s impressive numbers

Research has clearly shown that consumer smartphone tech companies are gaining consumer trust, recommendations, and preferences. The high brand affinity and brand confidence that some smartphone brands enjoy among consumers translates into increased adoption of their new consumer tech products.

Realme had the highest brand trust score of 55%, Samsung was ranked second with 51%, while Apple was ranked third with 49%, according to the report.

The report adds that Xiaomi and Samsung lead brand awareness at 96%, followed by Realme (91%). Realme is the most regarded brand (67%) followed by Xiaomi (62%) and Samsung (50%), according to the report.

In terms of user satisfaction, Apple, unsurprisingly, leads the rankings at 96%, followed by Samsung at 94%.

Realme is the most recommended brand (52%) followed by Xiaomi (48%) and Samsung (44%).

When it comes to the Overall Affinity Score, which is derived from Brand Awareness, Consideration, Satisfaction, and Recommendation, Realme enjoyed the highest Brand Affinity of 76%. Xiaomi was second with 74%, while Samsung was third with 71%.

In the smartphone space, Realme once again topped overall satisfaction (96%), followed by Samsung (95%).

In the laptop segment, according to the report, three in four smartphone users explored Lenovo before making the final purchase.

In the tablet market, Samsung (94%), followed by Apple (87%), had the highest brand awareness. The processor (94%) and battery (86%) are the main factors that users consider when selecting a tablet.

LG leads the smart TV segment in terms of brand awareness

Realme (78%) again came out on top in terms of brand awareness in the smartwatch category. It was followed by Xiaomi (76%). Realme is the most recommended by consumers (25%). Tracking physical activity (83%) and monitoring blood pressure (82%) are key for consumers.

Among wireless headphone brands, Boat (32%) is the most recommended brand, followed by Samsung (26%). Realme leads in terms of brand awareness (74%) and satisfaction (98%). Battery life (94%) is the main consideration for consumers.

The Bluetooth speaker segment led Boat (98%) in satisfaction, followed by Philips (96%). Portability (90%) and good audio quality (90%) are the main buying drivers in this segment.

In the all-important smart TV segment, LG (92%), followed by Samsung (86%), had the highest brand awareness in the smart TV category. Fast user interface (86%) and voice control (86%) are top consumer considerations.

Dyson (96%) followed by Philips (88%) leads the brand’s satisfaction with hair dryers. Philips also enjoyed the highest brand recommendation (43%) in the electric toothbrush category. Two in five electric toothbrush users seem to promote them to their peers. Philips leads in terms of awareness (73%) and consideration (36%), while Samsung (96%) leads in satisfaction among air purifier brands.

The survey covered more than 25 consumer technology products and devices, from approximately 16 consumer technology brands. It took place from the end of October to mid-November 2021.
