Best Verizon Phone Plans in 2022

For many people, Verizon is considered the best mobile carrier in the United States, based on its speeds and coverage across the country. Verizon also offers a number of different plans you can choose from, ranging from around $40 per month to $100 per month. That’s a pretty big gap, so we’re here to help you choose the best plan for yourself.

In this article, we are going to detail the best postpaid plan, the best prepaid plan and the best MVNO carrier plan. As well as the best plan for those who travel a lot and need a big data cap, or those who want their streaming services included in their monthly bill. So without further ado, let’s get started.

Postpaid vs Prepaid vs MVNO

Before we start, it is important to talk about the differences between Postpaid, Prepaid and MVNO. Postpaid services are customers who pay for their service after receiving it. This means your final bill will be higher than your first bill. Prepaid basically means that you pay for your service before you receive it. And MVNO stands for Mobile Virtual Network Operator, they basically buy access to Verizon’s network at wholesale rates. That’s why it can be much cheaper than getting a postpaid plan.

As for coverage, all three will offer the same coverage, if they are on the same network. The difference here is going to be in the occupied areas. On a network tower, postpaid customers are given priority, followed by prepaid customers. MVNO customers are all the way down, but a Verizon-owned MVNO might be a bit higher than other MVNOs because it’s still a Verizon company. Visible is the one owned by Verizon.

Smartphone selection is another difference here. While postpaid customers have access to almost every smartphone available, prepaid and MVNOs have far fewer options for customers. Also, they usually don’t offer any financing, so you have to go through a third party, like Samsung (and buy unlocked).

Now that you know the difference between postpaid, prepaid, and MVNO, let’s get started.

Best Overall Verizon Plan: 5G Play More

The 5G Play More plan is sort of a mix of cheap and expensive, as it sits right in the middle of Verizon’s lineup for postpaid customers. It’s priced at $80/month for a single line with autopay — $90 without autopay. But you can pay as little as $45 a month with a family of four.

It’s Verizon’s best value plan. It offers access to its 5G Ultra Wideband network included in the price. You will get 50 GB of premium data, then unlimited thereafter. As for mobile hotspot, you’ll get 25GB of premium mobile hotspot data and then unlimited low-speed data after that. Of course, unlimited calls and texts are also included.

Now let’s talk about some of the benefits included. Verizon includes the Disney+ bundle with this plan. And it’s available as long as you stay on this plan, or any other eligible plan. This includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+. Plus, you also get Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass included as long as you stay on this plan, or any other eligible plan. That’s a value of $18.98/month. Verizon will also include Apple Music free for 6 months, after which it will be $9.99/month.

Finally, if you choose to switch your ISP to Verizon, you can get 50% off 5G home internet. Making it as low as $25 per month with autopay.

For those who travel a lot or are on the road often, Verizon’s 5G Get More plan is your best bet. This plan is $90/month with autopay for individuals – $100 without autopay. Or it can be as low as $55/month with four or more lines and autopay – $65 without.

This plan basically combines the 5G Play More and 5G Do More plans into one plan. It offers unlimited access to the premium network, which is ideal for someone who is always on the go, as you will never be slowed down. There’s also 50GB of premium mobile hotspot data, then unlimited low-speed data after that.

There are many benefits with this plan. Like the 5G Play More plan, this includes the Disney+ package with this plan. And it’s available as long as you stay on this plan, or any other eligible plan. This includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+. Plus, you also get Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass included as long as you stay on this plan, or any other eligible plan. You also get Apple Music included as long as you stay on this plan or any other eligible plan.

That’s not all, you can also get up to 50% off a watch, tablet, hotspot or Hum data plan, 1 day TravelPass per month and 600 GB storage on Verizon Cloud . TravelPass lets you have unlimited calls, texts and data in over 185 countries, and those days can also be banked for vacation.

Of course, as with the 5G Play More plan, this one also offers 50% off 5G home internet.

Best Verizon Prepaid Plan: Unlimited

For Verizon’s prepaid plans, there are fewer options than with Postpaid. But we think “Unlimited” is the best plan. This plan is going to cost you $65/month. However, the longer you stay with Verizon Prepaid, the more discount you will receive on your bill. After two months you will save $5 per month, in the fourth month that will change to $10 off. And at 10 months, you can save $15 per month, which brings it down to $50 per month.

Like most prepaid plans, there aren’t many gimmicks or features included here. You basically get chat, text and data and that’s it. So let’s go. You’ll get unlimited calls and texts, plus unlimited data which includes 5G (not 5G Ultra Wideband, which is available on Unlimited Plus). Mobile hotspot is not included, but you can add it for an additional $5 per month. And finally, you get unlimited calls, texts and data to and from Mexico and Canada.

Visible is an MVNO that is actually owned by Verizon. And really offer a lot. Visible’s plans are pretty straightforward, there’s really only one plan that includes unlimited talk, text, and data for $40/month. You get unlimited 5G here, although Visible doesn’t yet have Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband.

If $40 seems like too much, Visible has ways to bring it down to $25/month. Like Party Pay, where you can join a party of at least four people and only pay $25/month for the service. Or you can bring a friend to Visible and get a month of service for $5. With Party Pay, you can join complete strangers and you’ll both save money.

Visible also offers a free trial of its service for 15 days. This allows you to test the service before changing.
