The incident took place on Thursday as the truck was traveling from Ecotech 1 in Grand Noida to Rampur district, police said, adding that all of the suspects were residents of Khurja in Bulandshahr.
Three people were arrested on Saturday for allegedly stealing a truck loaded with cellphone accessories on the eastern ring road in Greater Noida on Thursday. The suspects have been identified as Mohit Singh, 25, Irshad Khan, 26, and Vishal, 24, all residents of Khurja in Bulandshahr.
Vishal Pandey, Deputy Additional Police Commissioner of Greater Noida, said a truck was traveling from Ecotech 1 to Greater Noida in Rampur District. âThe truck driver, Narendra Kumar, 30, was tasked with delivering the goods to the company’s warehouse. The three suspects in a mini-truck passed the driver and forced him to stop on the way. They held the driver at gunpoint, unloaded the accessories from the cell phone, and transferred the goods to their vehicle. The suspects also damaged the driver’s cell phone to make sure he did not call the police and then ran away, âhe said.
Pandey said the truck driver managed to call police with the help of a passer-by and a case was filed against the suspects under IPC Section 392 (theft) on Thursday.
âWe scanned the CCTV footage and identified the suspects vehicle. On Saturday we received information about their movement in the Kasna region in the same mini-truck. A police team arrived at the scene and arrested the suspects, âhe said.
Police recovered a field gun, four live cartridges, two knives and nine boxes of valuable stolen mobile phone accessories ??5 lakh of their possession. The suspects were brought before a court which sent them into custody, police said.
